Daniel Lasco, Running Back

Lasco ran all over San Diego State last week. He rushed for 123 yards and a score on 19 carries. He is the returning workhorse for Cal.

Last season Lasco had 210 carries for 1,115 yards and 12 touchdowns – wouldn’t Texas fans enjoy seeing Jonathan Gray put up similar numbers this season. He is a nice balance to Cal’s prolific passing attack. After watching Rice slice through the Texas defense last week, Lasco has to be salivating at the chance to run against Bedford’s group. He is a tall running back at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds.

Another motivating factor for Lasco is that he hails from the Lone Star State. The senior is from The Woodlands, so he will probably have a number of family and friends in the stands on Saturday.

Texas must shore up the run defense. The front seven have to do a better job of disrupting plays at the line of scrimmage and making tackles. If the defense continues to miss tackles like last week, it will be another blowout loss at home.
