Jefferson has been one of the bright lights on this defense. He made his presence felt in his first Red River Showdown.

Jefferson had six tackles and two of Texas’ six sacks. Vance Bedford sent various defenders on blitzes early in the first half to cause confusion with the Oklahoma offensive line.

Jefferson didn’t have to do everything himself. The defensive line did a great job of eating up the Sooner blockers. This freed up Jefferson and Peter Jinkens the opportunity to make tackles and keep the Sooners from breaking too many big plays.

Hopefully Saturday’s performance is a sign of better things to come from this defense.
