Last season, Texas won their regular season finale which helped build momentum in the offseason. This year, their regular season finale comes November 25 against TCU and could have huge ramifications.

If Texas is able to string together just a couple more wins during the course of the year, they could need one last win to become bowl eligible or secure a winning season. However, if everything breaks the Horns way and they are able to get into the mix of the Big 12 title race, a head to head matchup with the Horned Frogs will have serious conference implications.

TCU has become one of the perennial contenders in the Big 12, even securing a co-championship two years ago. They look to have another strong team in 2016 that will be in the mix this November. If the Horns can put themselves in a position to make a play for the conference title, they will have to go through TCU to seal the deal.

More importantly, TCU embarrassed Texas last season in a 50-7 blowout. It was clear at that point that Texas was not nearly on the same level as the Big 12 contenders a year ago. Playing TCU more competitively this time around would be a huge step forward in reclaiming the Longhorns’ place in the upper echelon of the Big 12.
