(3) Vanderbilt Commodores. This is a biggie. Texas played Vandy a lot starting in 1899 and throughout the early 1900s. But, Texas stunk against this SEC team.

Texas is 3-8-1 all-time against Vanderbilt and they have not played since 1928.

In 1921, Texas and Vanderbilt started a lengthy non-conference series in Dallas at the State Fair. Texas was coming off an amazing undefeated season in 1920 when they allowed a grand total of 13 points the entire season.

Texas started as great in 1921 by shutting out their first three opponents. But, Vandy stunned Texas 20-0 in Dallas to start a winning streak against the Horns. The series ended in 1928 when Vanderbilt won by one point, 13-12. Texas and Vandy have not played since.

It has been nearly 100 years since the last meeting and it’s time for Texas to start working on that losing record against the Commodores. Let’s see this series return to the schedule to give Texas another SEC opponent to play against.
