Wednesday’s game might be Jarrett Allen’s game in a Texas uniform if he decides to leave early for the NBA Draft.

But, in order for Allen and his teammates to pull off a miracle run in the Big 12 Tournament, the freshman star needs to become the dominant center that Longhorns fans have been waiting for this season.

Allen has shown flashes of brilliance, such as his Dunk of the Year against West Virginia in February. But, he’s also disappeared at times, like the second half against Baylor on Saturday.

Texas absolutely needs Jarrett Allen to assert himself and demand the ball. Even if he is double-teamed. Even if he’s being pushed around in the post. There’s no other option – Texas’ offense has to run through Allen to create opportunities for himself and his teammates.

That means Allen needs to play like he’s the best player on the court and a future NBA Draft pick. He needs to be epic starting Wednesday against Texas Tech.
