Takeaway #4 – P.J. Locke Is A Special Player

Coach Herman identified P.J. Locke and Naashon Hughes as the two players who really impressed the coaching staff during winter drills.

Herman was so pleased by Locke’s work ethic and buy-in factor that he personally called his parents to thank them for raising a great son.

So, what did the junior Locke do to separate himself? Herman said Locke established himself as a big leader and a very local leader. He said everyone on the team gravitates toward Locke and Naashon Hughes because of their consistency in practice.

As for Locke’s position in 2017, Herman said Locke and Jon Bonney will likely rotate to the Nickel spot in Todd Orlando’s defense, especially if they need an extra DB on the field to slow down wide-open Big 12 offenses.
