(2) Herman Says Team Is Not Physical

Longhorns fans watched the football team wear down in the fourth quarter last year. Tom Herman plans to shock that out of their system in 2017.

This is especially true because Herman put a shocking label on the team about their toughness.

Asked if this Texas Football team is physical at this very moment in the spring, Herman said no. It points back to the Longhorns hitting the wall early in their first practice after Spring Break.

“Is that a physical team? No,” Herman said. But, like with the players hitting a wall so early in practice, Herman offered hope: “Are they willing to be? Yes.”

Herman plans to earn his paycheck getting the team mentally and physically prepared during Spring Football. And, that order of mental before physical counts to Herman, who said he is more concerned about players having the mental capacity to push through pain, sweat, and tiredness when the physical shuts down, especially in the fourth quarter.
