(2) Texas Spring Game Star: Collin Johnson

If Shane Buechele is Batman, then WR Collin Johnson is clearly Robin.

Buechele and Johnson started to develop chemistry mid-way through their freshman seasons last year. But, Buechele was banged up during the stretch run and could not get the ball to Johnson on a consistent basis after the Texas Tech game.

That chemistry is back with a vengeance during their sophomore years. Johnson has the makeup of a Roy Williams-like Texas WR who can get open, make big plays, and score TDs.

Buechele and Johnson connected for two big TDs in the first half. And, Johnson finished with eight catches for nearly 120 yards.

Last year, Texas did not have a go-to Wide Receiver. At times it seemed like the offense was not designed to have a go-to, #1 WR. But, Texas needed one during key moments of key games.

Now, it’s clear that Collin Johnson is the top dog among the Wide Receivers. And, the Buechele to Johnson Connection should instill fear in opposing defenses this coming football season.
