5. Jericho Sims

And then you have the freshman big man Jericho Sims who was drawing all the attention before another big man, Mo Bamba, committed to Texas.

If Bamba did not commit, Sims may have won the starting center job as a freshman. Now, he could be an elite big man coming off the bench along with sophomore James Banks.

Sims is a Top 10 national center out of Minneapolis who “has some real natural gifts,” according to Shaka Smart. He’s cut from that mold of Kevin Durant who moves like a smaller player and has the ability to use his size to score over any defender on the court.

Sims will likely need some time to develop and learn coming off the bench. But, by mid-season, he should be a very effective big man coming off the bench to give Mo Bamba some rest.
