One of the final Big 12 Championship Games when there were two divisions in the conference provided a ton of excitement to fans of both the Huskers and Horns. Nebraska and Texas had a lot of exciting matchups before the Huskers bolted for the Big 10 before the 2012 season.

However, Texas entered the 2009 Big 12 Championship Game in Arlington, TX, looking to take its successes to the BCS National Championship Game. The ending to this game was one of the craziest happenings since the turn of the century, in any major contest.

Texas got the fortune of one more play with just seconds left on the clock to kick the game winning field goal. Before that, it seemed to be a win for star defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and Nebraska by a score of 12-10. But, with that extra time after a controversial review, Texas was able to kick the game winning field goal to push the Horns to the National Title Game.

Colt McCoy’s injury in the BCS National Championship Game caused the Horns to fall short to the Alabama Crimson Tide, but this is not a game that Texas fans should soon forget. It’s easy to look past what happened here, but defeating Nebraska in this fashion is unforgettable for most fans of any Big 12 program.
