A classic rivalry throughout college football, Texas and the Arkansas Razorbacks had a ton of great matchups dating back beyond the past 70 years. Texas and Arkansas have even met in games with National Championship stakes at hand, but most of the recent meetings haven’t been with the Hogs at the top of national contention.

However, Arkansas nearly took down a top 10 ranked Texas squad out here. The rise of former superstar Texas quarterback Vince Young was just starting at this point of the 2004 campaign, and he had a big game when it mattered most on the road. No matter what, a road night game against an SEC opponent is going to be tough.

Texas managed to hang on through a good Arkansas run in the second and almost in the fourth quarter. Most games on this list have one thing in common, and that’s a spirited effort from the defense of the Horns. The Horns picked off starting Arkansas quarterback Matt Jones twice, without allowing him to toss a single touchdown.

And, Texas star running back Cedric Benson racked up nearly 200 rushing yards and one touchdown on the ground. Young and Benson guided Texas to this huge road victory that guided the team to a big 2004 campaign, building up enough momentum to win a title the following year.
