Compared to the 2010 campaign, this victory for Texas over Nebraska wasn’t as much of a fluke. However, the latter years of Texas facing the Huskers on the road was not too favorable for Nebraska fans. Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, NE, became a good place for victories for the Horns.

The 2006 campaign was no different, as Texas was looking to find its way following the departure of quarterback Vince Young to the NFL, with the Tennessee Titans. A young Colt McCoy completed nearly 65 percent of his passes for more than 250 yards and two touchdowns. All the while, he didn’t toss a single pick.

Nebraska quarterback Zac Taylor went back and forth with McCoy in an exciting game, despite the lack of points on the scoreboard. Both Taylor and McCoy had the same amount of passing touchdowns, but Texas didn’t have a single turnover in the passing game.

That made the ultimate difference for the Horns since it managed to hold off Nebraska through some big first and fourth quarter pushes. A 13-point fourth quarter pushed Texas far enough to claim the two point victory over Nebraska in Lincoln.
