Texas Basketball Recruiting: This is how the 2019 recruiting class could look
Landing a great combination of depth four-star prospects and one key five-star standout could happen in reality for Texas basketball recruiting for 2019.
Few things will continue to build a program for Longhorns’ head basketball coach Shaka Smart like hitting the trail hard for Texas basketball recruiting. The 2018 recruiting class rounded out nicely for the Horns, considering the Longhorns didn’t land a single five-star prospect. Texas has consistently found itself in the top 10 in the nation in the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, over the past five years.
Among the better recruiting classes for the 2018 cycle, most have more than five commitments locked up. However, Texas has five exactly, but favored more quality over quantity.
However, Texas is yet to land a single commitment for the 2019 class. The Big 12 is a competitive conference for basketball recruiting, and the coaching staff needs to pick up some steam here soon. To keep up with the likes of the Kansas Jayhawks, Iowa State Cyclones, Baylor Bears, etc., Texas needs to pick up a few key prospects within the coming months.
A solid start to the upcoming regular season would put the Horns in a great position to pick up some big time recruits. However, the Horns need not rely on the start of the regular season only to get things going.
