In some form or fashion, the Texas offensive line is going to need some help this year. Whether that be from the progression of the projected starters and returners from last season or some incoming talent, something needs to give. Some relief for the tackle position can be found with the Rice Owls grad transfer Calvin Anderson and the highest rated recruit at the position from the 2018 class in Junior Angilau.

Most of the Texas offensive line is formed from players who had some inconsistencies last season, or need some well-rounded improvement altogether. Angilau has the opportunity to make a name for himself if lineman like Zach Shackelford and Derek Kerstetter don’t come through as expected. Even though Angilau would really only fit as a tackle at this point to maximize his ability, he’s solid in both run and pass protection

Another name to watch along the offensive line among incoming talent is the JUCO transfer tackle Mikey Grandy. However, Grandy will not be a freshman this fall, so he doesn’t even qualify for a ranking like this. When it’s all said and done, Angilau should have the higher ceiling between him and Grandy too.

Angilau is a top 10 player in the nation among all offensive tackles, and also the second best coming out of the state of Utah. This is a huge get for the Horns, and he has the maturity in his game to get some valuable time on the field at some point during the regular season. Given the chance, Angilau could be huge for the Horns.
