Texas Longhorns vs. Maryland

Texas had never fell against Maryland until last year’s season opener which resulted in an offensive thriller. The last victory for the Horns over the Terps came in 1978 by a final score of 42-0. Texas is a much better program over the course of college football history than Maryland.

And, the Horns opened up as a double-digit point favorite over Maryland in the initial Vegas betting lines for Week 1. This is an extremely important Week 1 matchup for Texas to get things rolling after falling short against the Terps by a double-digit point margin at home to open up the 2017 campaign.

Maryland brings back a roster that could put the team in position for bowl eligibility, but anything else would be a big surprise considering the strength of the Big 10 East in 2018. It also could use a big upset win to open the season, to get going before things ramp up for the Big 10 slate.

Since Texas has such a long and illustrious history throughout, it’s somewhat surprising the series with Maryland is so limited. Texas could round out with a better win percentage against Maryland than any other team it faces in 2018 with a victory this fall.
