Scouting Report. Linebacker. Brian Orakpo. 4. player. Pick Analysis. College Career: 2005-2008. 35

Some of the star power from former Texas players starts to kick in with the former Washington Redskins edge rusher Brian Orakpo. He was a force with the Redskins coming off the edge, and continued that trend with the Tennessee Titans in 2017.

Orakpo just missed the cut for the Pro Bowl in 2017, but he is a four-time Pro Bowler in his career. However, it’s fantastic that Orakpo is still going strong with nearly a full decade playing in the NFL. He had a great career with the Horns as a one-time All-American and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.

As possibly the best linebacker that Texas has seen in the past 15 years, Orakpo is also someone to remember for the foreseeable future in Austin. He took his greatness to the NFL level, but is still without a Super Bowl. Last season with the Titans was about the closest he’s gotten in his professional career that goes back to 2009.

In 2017, Orakpo racked up 7.5 sacks, 30 tackles, and three forced fumbles. He converted to more of a pure linebacker in the latter stages of his tenure with the Redskins and his start with the Titans. Orakpo still has some very solid years left in the NFL and his consistency is something that should be admired across the world of college and professional football.
