Strong safety

1. Chris Brown

The safety position won’t be as strong for the Horns this season as it was last. Any group of safeties in the nation likely wouldn’t be as good as it was the year before if they lose someone like superstar reigning All-American DeShon Elliott and his six interceptions.

To be fair, this group of safeties is also one of the most talented of any team in the Big 12. Rising redshirt sophomore Chris Brown is a solid option to fill in for the loss of Elliott since he provides a nice backbone to the secondary.

Yet, Brown might not be the long-term answer here. He didn’t get too much exposure during his freshman year, but that should change this time around. He’ll get the torch passed to him, before giving way to the next man up that is guaranteed nearly to get a starting spot soon.

2. B.J. Foster

Herman and Orlando did such an extraordinary job recruiting safeties during the last cycle that it’s almost unfathomable to think that they landed two five-stars in the same class. The first mentioned here is the top three rated safety in the nation B.J. Foster.

Originally, Foster was rated higher than his other five-star safety counterpart. But, that would later change as the recruiting cycle moved on through time. Foster is still talented enough to possibly start at strong safety by the time this regular season is coming to a close.
