9. Multitude of NFL prospects coming back

We’ll start this point by mentioning one of the most talented offensive players for the Horns for 2018. Rising junior wide receiver Collin Johnson led Texas in receiving yards in 2017, and should be able to do the same again. Johnson is a projected early round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and could even wind up falling in the first round.

A few other names to watch include linebacker Malcolm Roach, cornerback Kris Boyd, cornerback Davante Davis, defensive end Breckyn Hager, offensive tackle Calvin Anderson, and wide receiver Jerrod Heard. Receivers like Heard and fellow rising senior John Burt likely won’t be picked as high as Johnson.

But, the speed that are offered from both Heard and Burt likely translates to some type of value at the next level. And, if Burt can finally start catching the ball more consistently in 2018, he could end up being one of the best deep threats in the entire conference.

Yet, the Texas defense is the side of the ball most loaded with NFL talent and returning senior leadership. The secondary is loaded with seniors that should be standouts at the next level given their physical tools, like that of Boyd and Davis. It’ll be a week by week storyline to watch with so many draft stocks up in the air.
