8. The affect on an improving 2019 recruiting class

Herman has hit the recruiting trail very hard of late for the 2019 class, including a huge haul during the months of May and June. Up to this point, the Horns have a 2019 recruiting class that is nearly ranked in the top 10 in the nation. Before May came around, the recruiting for the 2019 class during spring camp hit some rough times.

Texas finally got that staple commit it was looking for to headline the 2019 class, by landing five-star offensive tackle Tyler Johnson to help boost the offensive line. Rounding out the 2019 recruiting class can hit its peak once the regular season starts. A nice start to the 2018 campaign would gain the attention of a lot of top high schools prospects that Herman has his eye on.

That tends to be one of the more exciting aspects of the course of the regular season is following the affect on the recruiting trail in the fall. Texas usually does very well on the recruiting trail, but the results on the field of late have hampered the Horns ability to reel in some of the top high school talent in the nation.

We should still see a few big commits come through before Week 1 comes around. Texas has a lot of momentum for the 2019 recruiting class at this moment and that should continue on through the summer months. Recruiting is one of the few active things to follow during this period of college football’s off-season.
