Unlike Sopsher, the Horns could still have a very legitimate chance at landing the Hawaii native defensive tackle Faatui Tuitele when it’s all said and done. Moreover, Tuitele officially named his top five schools back in May including Texas as one of them.

There’s a few other likely candidates in Tuitele’s top five including the Clemson Tigers, Washington Huskies, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Crimson Tide. The USC Trojans appeared to be a favorite of Tuitele, but that program is not listed in his top five.

Tuitele is an extremely athletic anchor to a defensive line that has more than 35 offers up to this point for a very good reason. He’s the third best defensive tackle in the nation, and a top 30 prospect overall. His athleticism and speed should allow him to adjust to the college pace very quickly.

Texas would give Tuitele a chance to get some early playing time compared to the likes of Alabama and Clemson. Herman is also already building a solid track record of recruiting top notch talent to his front seven. The presence of second-year defensive coordinator Todd Orlando help in the recruitment of Tuitele also.
