Texas Football Recruiting: 5 prospects that could be the next 5-star commit for the Longhorns
Kenyatta Watson II is already a solid addition to the Texas secondary as part of the 2019 recruiting class, but five-star Booker T. Washington defensive back Daxton Hill would be even better. Moreover, the recruitment of Hill has been one of the most fun pursuits to watch over the course of the off-season.
Hill attends high school in the thick of Big 12 country, so he has some of the best programs in the conferences after him. The Sooners and Oklahoma State Cowboys, the two big in-state programs after this Tulsa native, look like the favorites. But, the Horns are still relevant to Hill geographically and he could thrive in this defensive backfield.
One problem that the Horns could run into in the pursuit of Hill is the heavy presence of top notch defensive backs coming in from the 2018 recruiting class. Texas landed two of the top safeties in the nation for the 2018 recruiting cycle in Caden Sterns and B.J. Foster.
If Hill wants some early playing time, the Sooners and Pokes might have a more clear path to fit his wishes. However, Texas usually sports a more productive secondary than that of most other Big 12 programs including the Oklahoma schools. If Hill is looking for career longevity and a path to the NFL, the Horns are a great choice for him.
