This is where we start to get into some high school prospects that are very realistic targets for the Horns to nab. Five-star North Forest High School wide receiver Demond Demas hails from Houston, TX, and is a geographically relevant prospect for Texas.

Texas has been short of solid wide receivers for at least five years now. At least the depth has not been up to par with the rest of the Big 12. That’s a direct failure of the former coaching staff to recruit well at this position. The speed is usually there for Texas in the receiving corps, but most other areas are lacking.

At 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, Demas is a great possession receiver that the Horns could add into the mix just two years after the likely departure of rising junior Collin Johnson. Since he has about the best outlook that a Texas wide receiver had in the past three years, Johnson can be a beacon of success that prospective recruits of this program can look up to.

As a top 25 rated recruit in the nation, and a top six wide receiver, Demas is a heavily pursued target even outside of Big 12 territory. Texas could even be considered the favorite to land Demas at this point, but the Aggies are still in the running for him. The Arkansas Razorbacks and Auburn Tigers are also looking to land Demas.
