Up to this point with this list, most of the targets that Texas should pursue came at the skill positions. Yet, no one should forget about one of the best defensive backs in this recruiting class in five-star cornerback Dwight McGlothern. This Cedar Hill, TX, product is the third best prospect at his position and the third best prospect out of the state of Texas.

Most of the cornerback commits for Texas in recent years were four-star recruits. Texas has rarely been able to reel in five-star cornerbacks. That’s somewhat interesting given the two five-star safeties in Caden Sterns and B.J. Foster, that the Horns nabbed for the 2018 recruiting class.

At 6-foot-2 with quick feet and sound fundamentals, McGlothern has most of the capabilities that college scouts are looking for out of a top cornerback now. The NFL started to get more cornerbacks that are taller and more physical. McGlothern fits that bill for what could be a huge college career for him.

Like a lot of the prospects that Texas will go after in-state, there’s some big SEC schools trying to grab its targets away. Texas A&M and Alabama both also want McGlothern which comes as no surprise. Texas is one of the teams that is hoping to get McGlothern, and has a legitimate chance to do so.
