Manhattan and Bill Snyder Family Stadium have been a hornet’s nest for Texas in the past eight years. Kansas State is the most consistent program in the Big 12 too, and that is all thanks to head coach Bill Snyder. The Wildcats also have a nice group of talent coming back on both sides of the ball in 2018, including experienced quarterbacks in Skylar Thompson and Alex Delton who will compete for the starting gig.

Last season, the home victory over Kansas State was one of the biggest triumphs for Herman as it was something that Charlie Strong could not do regularly. Yet, Herman is yet to face the Wildcats in Manhattan yet. Snyder is sure to be prepared for this early season Big 12 matchup that takes place even before the calendar turns to October.

Texas hasn’t won a game in Manhattan since the middle of the coaching tenure of Mack Brown back in 2002. Although the Horns used to seldom play the Wildcats when the Big 12 was split up in two divisions, Kansas State has still won five straight at home against Texas.

It is a gauntlet for the Horns at the start of Big 12 play this fall. That gauntlet is likely the three toughest opponents for the Horns this season against Kansas State, TCU, and Oklahoma. Kansas State might finish 2018 with the worst record of those three teams, but having to play in Manhattan automatically makes this difficult for Texas.
