Some Texas Tech fans might have a qualm with this ranking on the list for the 2018 Texas football schedule difficulty. However, Texas Tech could very well end up in ninth place in the Big 12 standings this season. Kansas, Baylor, and Texas Tech, are the teams expected to round out the bottom three in the Big 12 in 2018.

Texas Tech and Kansas both have the biggest and most concerning quarterback questions in the Big 12. It could be either Jett Duffey or McLane Carter taking the starting quarterback reigns for the Texas Tech offense in 2018. Smart odds would take it that Carter is the Week 1 starter.

However, there could be a lot of change for the Red Raiders between the start of the regular season and the middle of November. Texas Tech head football coach Kliff Kingsbury is on a seat as hot as any in the Big 12, and in the nation altogether.

Texas will also be looking for revenge against the conference rival Texas Tech this season. Texas Tech was the most confusing defeat of the 2017 campaign. When it looked like true freshman quarterback Sam Ehlinger and Texas was finally in a great rhythm, it fell short against the Red Raiders at home at the end of the 2017 regular season.
