This point in the 2018 schedule is chalked full of what promises to be middle of the road Big 12 teams this year. After taking care of business on the road against Oklahoma State, Texas can return home to the friendly confines of DKR to take on another Big 12 contender in the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Texas is now ranked No. 4 in the nation with a two loss West Virginia squad sitting with a No. 21 ranking. This is one of the more talented teams that the Horns face in the latter half of the regular season. West Virginia shows why the team is so highly regarded, especially on offense, with three touchdowns in the first quarter.

After the hot start, the Texas defense clamps down on the Mountaineers with no touchdowns in the second or third quarters. Humphrey has his biggest game of the season with three total touchdowns, including one on the ground. His coming out party is backed by one rushing touchdown from Ingram that finally puts Texas ahead early in the fourth quarter.

West Virginia quarterback Will Grier is stifled in the second half and running back Kennedy McKoy is held out of the end zone altogether. The Mountaineers put up just six points on the Horns in the second half while Ehlinger controls the clock to keep the game in hand. What was anticipated to be a high scoring game is tempered by the strong pass rushing efforts of Hager and the dynamic duo at corner between Boyd and senior Davante Davis.

Final Score: Texas 35, West Virginia 27 (8-1, 5-1 Big 12)
