Texas is bounced back to the No. 10 ranked team in the nation with the upset loss at the hands of Iowa State in Austin. At least the Horns have potentially the easiest opponent of the season to round things out before a possible appearance in the 2018 Big 12 Championship Game.

Yet, the last time the Horns visited Lawrence, KS, to face the Kansas Jayhawks did not end well. Texas has to at least take this game seriously to avoid a massive upset for the second week in a row. Losing to Iowa State is a quality loss, if nothing else, but Kansas is not. The Jayhawks are without the head coach at the start of the regular season, David Beaty, as he was fired after losing all but one game throughout the first 10 in 2018.

Kansas has a renewed spark with a new head coach running the program with a new energy. Sophomore quarterback Miles Kendrick and standout junior running back Khalil Herbert lead a pretty potent ground game for Kansas. Meanwhile, the Texas defense is caught napping at the beginning of the game while trying to recover from the Iowa State loss and the gashing from Montgomery.

Herbert rumbles for a touchdown early in the first quarter. Kansas scores at the outset of the first and second halves, but that’s it. The Texas defense is motivated to make a statement, as is Ehlinger and the offense. Ehlinger manages a career high six total touchdowns in an absolute romping of the Jayhawks.

Johnson, Humphrey, and Ingram each haul in at least one touchdown pass to cap off the regular season in great fashion. Sophomore tight end Cade Brewer also nabs his fourth touchdown of the season in this one. Freshman quarterback Cameron Rising adds one more passing touchdown to complete the Kansas stomping to put the Horns in the 2018 Big 12 Championship Game.

Final Score: Texas 62, Kansas 17 (10-2, 7-2 Big 12)
