One last huge test remains for the Horns before the end of what was a very successful 2018 campaign. The Georgia Bulldogs fell short to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game, which cost the team a shot at making the CFB Playoff for the second consecutive year. Now, Georgia is the highest ranked team outside the Playoff field.

Texas is bounced back to the No. 13 team in the nation after the Big 12 Championship Game loss to the Sooners. Two losses in the last three games make it tougher for Herman to get his team back in the proper head space before the turn of the calendar year.

Georgia is still motivated under head coach Kirby Smart to make the last game of the season count. The Dawgs were just a few points shy of knocking Alabama down to the Sugar Bowl and out of the Playoff. However, sophomore quarterback Jake Fromm and his UGA squad is looking to knock off a blue blood still in the Horns, but gets behind the eight ball early.

Fromm and UGA running back D’Andre Swift are shut down early, while Ehlinger and Ingram put up 14 early points on the vaunted Dawgs defense. Freshman safety Caden Sterns picks off Fromm in the second quarter to keep the momentum in Texas’ favor. With two minutes remaining in the first half, Swift finally breaks free for a 44 yard touchdown run.

Texas goes into the half with a 17-10 lead over the Dawgs. Fromm leads UGA to another score to start the second half with a touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Mecole Hardman. Texas and UGA go back and forth with two more touchdowns each way. It goes down to the wire where UGA junior kicker Rodrigo Blankenship Jr. nails a 48-yard field goal to clinch the victory for his team.

Texas goes out with a heartbreaking Sugar Bowl defeat to UGA, but the season is overall a huge success. The Horns look to enter 2019 with all sorts of national title hype and a top 10 ranking to start the season.

Final Score: Georgia 34. Texas 31
