An easier road to a top 15 ranking sets up a huge primetime matchup between the USC Trojans and Horns in Week 3. Last year, Texas came into the USC matchup with one win and one loss. Falling short against Maryland ruined any shot the Horns had at a top 25 ranking against the Trojans at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The main focus for USC will be on the quarterback situation. Both Texas and USC have some of the most watched quarterback competitions in the nation in fall camp, and we’re going with Ehlinger for Texas and true freshman J.T. Daniel for the Trojans. The Texas defense has a huge test in front here with a truly talented USC squad.

USC has two wins, including a massive victory over the Stanford Cardinal, to start the 2018 campaign. They come out hot against Texas and make Herman sweat with a rough first quarter falling behind by 13 points. Texas is able to catch up late in the second quarter and on into the second half by tying up the score.

The pair of senior defensive ends in Breckyn Hager and Charles Omenihu come up huge for the Horns in making life tough for Daniel with three sacks combined. The USC offense cools down as the Horns also shut down sophomore star running back Stephen Carr. Ehlinger outduels Daniel to the tune of 200 more total yards of offense for Texas. He does just enough to push Texas to three wins on the season.

Final Score: Texas 34, USC 28 (3-0)
