Coming off three wins of the toughest four game stretch of the regular season, Texas finds itself back in the top 10 rankings for the second time in the first half of the year. This sets up what could be a potential letdown for the Horns against the Baylor Bears in Week 7. Baylor is looking at a much more successful 2018 season in the second year under head coach Matt Rhule.

Texas dominated Baylor in 2017 on the road at McLane Stadium. Although, that was a one win Baylor team last season, the Bears enter this matchup with three wins already. Baylor is fighting to be a bowl team in 2018, but the Horns are prepared for whatever Rhule’s squad has to throw at them.

Sophomore Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer hasn’t fulfilled his promise as the second best at his position in the Big 12, as many assumed in the preseason, but he does play huge against the Horns. It takes a while for Baylor to get going in the first half, but running back JaMychal Hasty racks up more than 100 rushing yards in the first 25 minutes alone.

A usually stingy Texas run defense has trouble containing the Baylor running back duo of Hasty and John Lovett the entire game. However, this is the second big game for Ingram in 2018 and he proves his worth to the coaching staff in a big way. Ehlinger uses his legs to get past a stingy Baylor defense. Ingram and Ehlinger combine for five touchdowns with another coming from sophomore running back Toneil Carter.

Baylor puts up double-digit points on the Texas defense behind a solid effort from Brewer and the running backs, but the Horns’ secondary does a great job to shut down star junior wide receiver Denzel Mims.

Final Score: Texas 41, Baylor 28 (6-1, 3-1 Big 12)
