A deep class of more than two dozen freshmen look to make their way into key roles this fall from the 2018 Texas football recruiting class.

Texas football recruiting got a boost from the 2019 commitment of a three-star outside linebacker and Florida native in Marcus Tillman Jr. His commitment will add depth to a linebacking corps that was already boosted through the 2018 incoming freshman class. The other boost that the Longhorns got from the recruiting trail for the 2019 class recently came from the commitment of four-star North Forest High School offensive tackle Javonne Shepherd.

At this point, Texas is looking to follow up the third best 2018 recruiting class in the nation with another top 10 class through the 2019 cycle. A solid 2018 campaign would help to do just that, and even possibly pull in the best class in the Big 12 for the 2019 recruiting cycle.

The good news for the Horns, and what makes a list like this tougher to come up with, is the factor of experience at the starting spots across the board. Texas has more than a dozen returning starters coming back on both sides of the ball which will make it difficult for any 2018 signee to get an immediate starting role.

Even winning over a starting job at some point during the latter stages of the regular season is going to be difficult if everything goes well for Texas this fall. That’s not necessarily a bad thing for the outlook for the Horns this season, but fans won’t see first-year players on the field as much.

Here’s a look at the definitive ranking of the 10 2018 signees for the Texas Longhorns ranked by the potential biggest impact made for the program this fall.
