By the time that the 2018 campaign is in the books for Texas football, we should be looking back and saying that junior wide receiver Collin Johnson was one of the best players in a big season in Austin. Johnson is the best raw NFL prospect that the Horns have in the mix this year, and he has a lot to prove still in 2018.

Johnson and Humphrey are set to be quite the one-two punch in the receiving corps for the Horns. And, preparing for two weapons like those two standout wide receivers is a very tough task for opposing defensive coordinators as long as Herman and Tim Beck can use them correctly.

The touchdown numbers have the potential to skyrocket for Johnson this season, as he only managed two in 2017. At 6-foot-6, Johnson is the ideal red zone target for whoever the starting quarterback is to find this year. He really should be able to reach around the mark of eight or 10 receiving touchdowns if the passing game comes along.

The receiving corps could easily be the best position group on the offensive side of the ball. It’s very deep even beyond Johnson and Humphrey. And, it also has two of the eight or 10 best players on this 2018 Texas squad. The raw talent and leaping ability that Johnson brings to the table makes him extremely difficult to cover and a huge weapon for the Texas offense this season.
