2. A ton of returning experience on both sides of the ball

There is senior leadership across the board coming back for Texas this fall. Some transfers out over the past month or two have hurt the depth on the defensive side of the ball, but for the most part the Horns are set in terms of senior leadership all around.

On offense, most if not all the position groups could have upperclassmen starting somewhere. Four of the five starters along the offensive line should all be juniors and seniors, outside of sophomore tackle Derek Kerstetter. In the receiving corps, all of the projected starters are either juniors or seniors highlighted by Collin Johnson and Lil’Jordan Humphrey.

The starting quarterback would have to be Buechele for the Horns to have an upperclassmen lining up under center. However, the point here is that the Horns have experienced and proven leaders across the board which can provide more guidance to find success that this team has had in recent years.

On defense, the front seven will lead the way with one of the most talented groups in the Big 12, if not the entire country. If the defensive line and linebacking corps stays healthy this season then it can be the glue that holds together the entire Texas defense. Even the secondary has senior leadership between Kris Boyd and fellow cornerback Davante Davis.
