Texas Football: Which Longhorns should you select for Fantasy College Football in 2018?
Similar to Watson and Humphrey, sophomore quarterback Sam Ehlinger is a nice pickup due to his versatile ability. Ehlinger showed the impressive ability to turn nothing into something when his pocket broke down. The passing game has to progress for him this year, but this is just the second year of his career some that could still come along soon.
If the offensive line play improves with more than 100 combined starts returning this year, Ehlinger will have a much smoother sophomore campaign. The rushing production is so key to Ehlinger’s fantasy value that he needs to keep strong in that part of his game.
Yahoo Sports has Ehlinger averaging an 11th round selection at pick No. 113. That places him around Duke Blue Devils quarterback Daniel Jones, Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback Adrian Martinez, and Clemson Tigers quarterback Kelly Bryant. To some degree, most pundits assume that Ehlinger won’t put up enormous passing numbers this season and will be limited as to what he can do.
While some might not picture Ehlinger worthy of getting picked in the realm of Bryant, they could each post similar production this season. Texas needs a big jump forward with its offensive production and that all runs through Ehlinger as the Week 1 starting quarterback now. He’s worth the risk for a massive reward in the 11th round if you can snag him.
