Other big names to watch around the Big 12

You’d have to think that if he was still playing in the college ranks, former Oklahoma Sooners Heisman winning quarterback Baker Mayfield would be the unanimous top selection. However, Mayfield’s departure makes for a multitude of Big 12 players that could all take the top spot in the rankings for Fantasy College Football.

The first two names that come to mind are Oklahoma running back Rodney Anderson and West Virginia Mountaineers quarterback Will Grier. Beyond Grier and Anderson, there’s a whole host of Big 12 players that are among the best 20 or 30 in the nation.

That list includes West Virginia wide receiver David Sills V, Oklahoma State Cowboys running back Justice Hill, Iowa State Cyclones running back David Montgomery, and Oklahoma wide receiver Marquise Brown. Texas potentially has one of the top quarterbacks in the Big 12 in Ehlinger, outside of Grier, so that’s one area the program could boast.

Another position to watch for the Horns this season is defense/special teams. Texas football could wind up as the top team defense/special teams in the Big 12 when it’s all said and done this year. The TCU Horned Frogs are the only other Big 12 team that could compete there. The Big 12 tends to shine more on the offensive side of the ball, and that reflects in the Yahoo Sports rankings.
