Texas Football Recruiting: 5 2019 Longhorns’ commits to watch this fall
A talented 2019 Texas football recruiting class is looking to see some positive results out of some of the best current commits at the high school level.
With the high school football season getting underway already, Texas football recruiting can now see some of its biggest commits in action for the 2018 campaign. The state of Texas has the biggest high school football culture in the nation, and that makes watching some of the biggest prospects at that level even more fun to watch.
Although the progress on the recruiting trail has slowed down for the Longhorns of late, the 2019 class still ranks among the top 10 in the nation. Following up on a massive 2018 class that ranked third in the nation would be huge for the head football coach of the Horns, Tom Herman.
Some of the high school prospects that are committed to the Horns already took the field for their respective teams. It gives this Texas fan base something to watch until their squad takes to FedEx Field in Landover, MD, on Sep. 1 to battle the Maryland Terrapins.
At this moment, the Horns have 15 commits in place for the 2019 Texas football recruiting class. That is good for the 10th ranked class in the nation and the second best in the Big 12 behind just the Oklahoma Sooners, according to 247Sports Team Composite Rankings.
The most recent 2019 commit to come the way of the Horns was four-star North Forest High School offensive guard Javonne Shepherd. Texas is still without a commitment in the month of August, at least up until the 25th.
Here’s a look at the five current 2019 commits for the Texas Longhorns to watch in high school football this fall.
