Texas Football Recruiting: 5 2019 Longhorns’ commits to watch this fall
At this point, linebacker and running back are the two biggest positions of need to fill for the Horns through the 2019 class. Texas added four-star linebacker Ayodele Adeoye and three-star Byron Hobbs for the 2018 class. However, that will not be enough given the eventual departures of senior Anthony Wheeler, senior Breckyn Hager, and possibly junior Malcolm Roach at season’s end.
Four-star Westlake High School outside linebacker De’Gabriel Floyd is by far the best at his position that Texas has committed right now. The other linebacker that the Horns have committed for the 2019 Texas football recruiting class is three-star Florida native Marcus Tillman Jr. As the second most recent commit in this class, Tillman Jr. is still big for this program.
Floyd has already played for two different high schools, as he started out at Golden Valley. He transferred early in 2018 to Westlake, in Westlake Village, CA. In his first action of the high school football season out in California, Floyd racked up a key sack that powered his squad to a victory.
That type of impact that Floyd is putting in place to start his final season in high school is what the Horns will be looking for out of his first two or three years on the Forty Acres. Floyd also helped Westlake to a big 28-13 victory over Mission Hills High School in the second week of the season. Pay attention to this stud outside linebacker for the rest of the year.
