Texas Football: 5 biggest storylines in season opener vs. Maryland
It was a long off-season for both Texas football and the Maryland Terrapins for different reasons and the two teams are about to finally meet on the field.
It’s nearly time for Texas football to take to FedEx Field in Landover, MD, to try and upend the Maryland Terrapins for the second straight year. We will emphasize the fact that the Longhorns are trying to upend the Terps for the second straight year to get revenge, not because Texas came out on top last season.
The time for off-season and recruiting storylines taking center stage is finally over. This was a long eight months for the Horns and the fans respectively since the end of an up and down 2017 campaign. That 2017 campaign was capped off with a nice Texas Bowl victory over the Mizzou Tigers. In effect, the Horns should enter 2018 with some type of momentum rolling from last year.
Texas gets a nice break by facing the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in Week 2 this year, so there’s no excuse that this team is overlooking the Terps. Given all the off-season turbulence of late for the Terps, we shouldn’t be able to find any reasons why Texas isn’t ready to go for Week 1.
The first depth chart, the starting quarterback, and injury report have all finally been released for the Horns. Now, it’s time for the action for the first full week of college football to take place.
Here’s a look at the five biggest storylines for the Texas Longhorns against the Maryland Terrapins in the season opener in 2018.
