Texas Football: 5 reasons the Longhorns beat Tulsa
Although this should be a gimme for Texas football in Week 2, there’s a large list of reasons why this team should easily beat Tulsa.
If only Texas football was entering Week 2 with the chance to stay undefeated heading into the USC Trojans matchup. Yet, falling short at the hands of the Maryland Terrapins derailed any chance of that happening for the Longhorns. Texas also doesn’t have a chance at even being ranked in the top 25 heading into the Week 3 matchup with USC which could’ve been one of the premier games of that weekend if they were.
Texas gets the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in Week 2 as 23-point favorites coming off the Week 1 defeat. The line shifted drastically following the dismal performance in the loss to Maryland. In its season opener, Tulsa defeated the FCS Central Arkansas Bears with a decent performance from the offense. However, Tulsa did struggle most of the way with an FCS team which bodes well for Texas.
Above all else, Texas could use a dominant performance to get some type of confidence boost with such a letdown to start this regular season. It’s hard to imagine how this program could fall further with such a tough schedule upcoming.
The Maryland game was so important for the Horns to get off on the right foot due to that grueling upcoming slate. Texas gets the TCU Horned Frogs, Kansas State Wildcats, and Oklahoma Sooners to open Big 12 play. That all comes one week after the Horns face a potential top 15 ranked team in the Trojans.
Here’s a look at five reasons why the Texas Longhorns will easily take care of business against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in Week 2.
