In the sense that Texas football came away with the first win of the season, Week 2 was a success, but not much else could be considered so in that game.

The postgame press conference for head Texas football coach Tom Herman was very interesting since it was another down effort for his team in Week 2 against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Texas did not come out of the gates good against the Maryland Terrapins for the second straight year, and there were more difficulties against Tulsa.

It did seem like Herman had to talk himself about of some challenging questions for which most big fans of the Longhorns should all be asking, let alone the Texas football media. One answer he gave to a question pertaining to the pressure for his players that coming along with suiting up in a Texas uniform was somewhat suspect.

Herman stated “I don’t think that they’re struggling to handle pressure”, followed by saying that “pressure is the uneasy feeling when you get where you’re not prepared”.

Yet, Herman kept to a positive mood in praising his players for this response after the Maryland loss after nearly talking himself in a circle. He might also have to be making up a bit for all the hype started for the Horns during the off-season and in fall camp.

Most of the judgment for Herman and the rest of his coaching staff has to be reserved until we see how they come out in Week 3 against the USC Trojans. Tulsa could wind up being a solid team like usual under head coach Phillip Montgomery, and Texas did have at least a few positive takeaways from the win.

Here’s a look at how the players for the Texas Longhorns actually responded to the adversity from the Week 1 loss to the Maryland Terrapins with a win over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Sep. 8.
