After landing its first 2019 commitment, Texas basketball recruiting should ratchet up the efforts to continue the momentum in landing the second.

Texas basketball recruiting and football recruiting had some big weeks with each program landing big four-star commits. For Texas football, it was the commitment of four-star running back Derrian Brown that was the first in quite a while. For Texas basketball recruiting, it was four-star shooting guard Donovan Williams that was the first commitment for the 2019 class.

The head coach for Texas basketball Shaka Smart had to be waiting for that moment where he could land the first commitment of the 2019 recruiting class. This is all following a massive top 10 ranked 2018 recruiting class in the nation that Smart signed. That also gave the Longhorns a very bright outlook for the upcoming 2018-19 season.

Texas could easily be ranked in the top 25 of the first AP Poll that’s released for this upcoming regular season. This team brings back so much experience and potent skill that you have to be excited for what’s to come for both the Horns now and the 2019 Texas basketball recruiting class.

Williams was a great first commit for the Horns since he’s a highly-touted in-state prospect that fills a position of need. He also helped the Horns to not become the only Big 12 basketball program that didn’t have a single 2019 commitment up to this point. Texas is now part of a handful of Big 12 teams that only have one commitment. Most of them are in that boat, though.

Here’s a look at the definitive prediction as to who the next commitment will be for the 2019 Texas basketball recruiting class following the pledge of Donovan Williams.
