Texas Basketball Recruiting: Predicting who the next 2019 commit will be
We’re moving a bit closer to home for this prospect that has a great chance of landing with the Horns in four-star power forward and Wichita, KS, native Malik Hall. Chances are that Hall stays in Big 12 country no matter what, so he might as well end up with a program that is going to compete at the top end of the conference for years to come.
Although Hall is not ranked as a top 50 prospect in the nation, he’s still the top rated out of the state of Kansas and holds offers from nearly 30 schools. For being ranked as the No. 51 prospect in the nation, Hall’s underrated skill set is surely garnering the attention it deserves from programs around the country.
The programs that have the strongest chance at landing Hall are the Oregon Ducks and Purdue Boilermakers. The Michigan State Spartans, Oklahoma Sooners, and the Horns also have good chances to still nab Hall. It would take a strong run from Texas basketball recruiting to get Hall when it’s all said and done.
Overall, Hall also ranks as the 12th best power forward in the nation. Since Texas loses the senior power forward Dylan Osetkowski following the 2018-19 season, that hole will have to be plugged somehow. Hall brings a similar set of attributes in terms of production to that of Osetkowski, just with less experience and more raw athleticism.
