The only three-star recruit listed here for the Horns could become one of the biggest sleeper high school prospects in the nation. Although he plays above the rim and has a pretty versatile skill set, three-star small forward and Oakdale, CT, native Jared Garcia is among the lowest-rated recruits that Texas is going after. Texas has yet to formally offer Garcia, but they should be sending some looks his way.

Considering the Horns need to play catch up in the Big 12 recruiting rankings in the next six months, nabbing an underrated three-star wing wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. Garcia could develop into a solid shooter and two-way contributor.

Texas is deep at the wing after the 2018 signees made their way to the Forty Acres, but more depth always helps. Kamaka Hepa and Gerald Liddell could both be starters by the end of this season.

However, Texas starting to give Garcia more love is a smart recruiting move. Texas only signed one three-star prospect during the 2018 recruiting cycle and it could pan out well. Garcia has good size for a small forward, at 6’7”, and could provide a ton of value to the rotation for the Horns.
