Texas Football: Best Longhorns’ performers in win over USC
The start to this season could not have gone much better for junior wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey, especially in this game individually. Humphrey finished out this game with four catches for 84 yards and one touchdown. Although, Humphrey wasn’t used on the ground as much this game as against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in the week previous.
Another standout performance in the receiving corps came from fellow junior wideout Collin Johnson. Humphrey did lead the Horns in receiving yards in this game, but Johnson led in receptions with six. Johnson also finished the game with 79 yards, but with no touchdown catches.
On the season so far, Humphrey now has 17 catches for 275 yards and two touchdowns. He also has 19 rushing yards that all came in the win over Tulsa in Week 2. However, Humphrey is leading the way for Texas so far in pretty much every major stat category for wide receivers. Johnson is also having a decent start to the season, but not as good as Humphrey.
The main highlight for Humphrey in this game came with his 47-yard touchdown catch that was the first passing touchdown of the game for the Horns. He shed a few whimpy tacklers from the Trojans on his way to the end zone. This was also the second touchdown catch of the season where Humphrey did most of the work to get there.
