Texas Football vs. USC: 5 overreactions from win over Trojans
Only three games into the season, Texas football looked like a polar opposite team from what it did in the season opener and that’s a good thing.
It was a completely different team on the field for Texas football in the Week 3 home victory over the USC Trojans. In the first two games of the season, the Longhorns looked as if this team was actually worse this year than it was last. The Tulsa Golden Hurricane even posed a tough test for the Horns in Week 2, despite the victory.
In a game where the Horns were looking to just keep hopes to stay relevant in the Big 12 alive, this team actually put some faith that it could compete for a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game. Since the Big 12 looked to be more wide open following the action seen in Week 3, Texas could be more competitive than many thought.
Texas gets the TCU Horned Frogs in the Big 12 opener in Week 4. A victory could clearly place the Horns back in the AP Poll, and it gets the Horned Frogs at home for the third straight week. TCU is coming off a lost to the Ohio State Buckeyes at AT&T Stadium in Week 3, so Texas could take advantage of a momentum swing going in its favor.
Head Texas football coach Tom Herman needed a huge victory since he was yet to knock off a top 25 team since taking over on the Forty Acres. He had numerous tries at it last season but was never able to capitalize on a ton of close opportunities.
Here’s a look at the definitive five overreactions after the Texas Longhorns defeated the USC Trojans in Week 3 of the 2018 season.
