Texas Football vs. USC: 5 overreactions from win over Trojans
4. Texas has numerous All-Big 12 true freshman candidates
This game saw even more true freshman for the Horns make their debut, including wide receiver Joshua Moore and Cook. The pair of standout true freshman safeties in Caden Sterns and B.J. Foster continued to show why they present an extremely bright future for this Texas secondary.
Beyond just making an impact in this game, freshmen have made an immediate impact for the Horns all season to this point. True freshman running back Keaontay Ingram was out for this game due to a knee injury suffered against Tulsa, but he should be back against TCU next week. Ingram and Sterns headline this very talented freshman class.
However, we should also continue to look out for the likes of Foster, Cook, Moore, wide receiver Brennan Eagles, and versatile threat D’shawn Jamison. This freshman class was not expected to make quite this big of an impact for Herman this early on. It just shows how good Texas football can be for the next three or four years with this group.
We still have most of the regular season ahead to see if any more freshmen will emerge if injuries pile up or if the more experienced presumed starters falter. Even if no one else emerges, some of the better freshmen are worthy of at least getting All-Big 12 considerations this year, if not Freshmen All-American honors.
