It will take a full team effort to knock off a true Big 12 contender for Texas football in Week 4 to upset the TCU Horned Frogs.

Texas football looks to take on one of its most impactful opponents of the season very early on, in the Big 12 opener. The gauntlet of the 2018 schedule for the Longhorns started last week but resulted in a 37-14 victory over the USC Trojans. The level of competition will ramp up even higher this week as the Horns take on the No. 17 ranked TCU Horned Frogs in Week 4.

TCU barely slid down the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll following its 40-28 defeat against the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes last weekend. Ohio State was pretty close with TCU for most of the game, and the Frogs impressed on a national stage too. It did fall apart for TCU in the second half, but gaining confidence from that game is more important for that team.

The momentum for Texas is heading in the other direction after that huge home win at DKR last weekend. Texas got revenge on the Trojans following the heartbreaking overtime loss on the road to them last season. That has to feel good, but this team needs to move on to preparing for the Frogs at a key point in the regular season.

Game and game this season, Texas is getting different players to step up at different times. Having different players step up is a good thing, but not always the way it is happening for Texas football this year so far.

Here’s a look at the five players to watch for the Texas Longhorns in taking on the TCU Horned Frogs in the Big 12 opener on Sep 22.
