One of the biggest matchups in the Big 12 in Week 4 will take place on the Forty Acres as Texas football is looking to pull the upset of TCU.

There’s only so much that a team can do on the offensive side of the ball to make up for a porous defense, or vice versa. Hopefully, that is not the case for Texas football when matchup up with the No. 17 ranked TCU Horned Frogs at home in Week 4. TCU is a team that is just too good for either side of the ball to falter for Texas football and still hope to emerge with a win.

The most points the Longhorns scored in a single game this season came in the 37-14 victory over the No. 22 USC Trojans last weekend, but not all of those points came from the offense. In fact, if you the count the safety that should’ve been called on sophomore quarterback Sam Ehlinger, the offense might’ve been counter-productive in a way.

One of the touchdowns against the Trojans was even scored on a blocked field goal that was returned by senior linebacker Anthony Wheeler. That really helped the Horns take command of the game in the second half.

With the offense putting up a respectable but not outrageous amount of points to start the season, more responsibility and pressure is placed on the defense. By all considerations, Texas is underperforming compared to your prototypical Big 12 offense given the level of competition in the first two games of the season

Here’s a look at what the offense will need to do for the Texas Longhorns and what a realistic amount of points will be to beat the TCU Horned Frogs on Sep. 22.
