Texas Football: Kirk Herbtreit the only College Gameday host not to pick the Longhorns
Other big Week 4 games that could impact the Longhorns
Shockingly enough, one of the only other Big 12 games that the College Gameday panel picked for Week 4 was pretty much the battle to stay out of last place last year. The Kansas Jayhawks are facing Matt Rhule’s Baylor Bears on Sep. 22, and both teams actually have a much brighter outlook this fall than last.
The only win for Baylor came against Kansas last season, but both teams enter this game with a winning record and two victories. Baylor is hoping to fight for bowl eligibility while Kansas’ head coach David Beaty is still fighting for job security. Beaty’s huge 55-14 home win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights not only cooled his seat down but also surprised the nation.
Kansas-Baylor is likely not to be the most impactful Big 12 matchup in Week 4. The No. 12 West Virginia Mountaineers face the Kansas State Wildcats at home in what amounts to a pretty intriguing conference opener for both teams. West Virginia should own the edge in that game since Kansas State looks to be down this year.
Other important games to watch for Texas football fans include the No. 15 Oklahoma State Cowboys taking on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in what should be one of the highest scoring games of the year and the No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners battling West Point in Norman. Oklahoma State is favored over Texas Tech by two scores and OU should take care of business against a sneaky Army team as 30-point favorites.
