3. Texas should be able to win the turnover battle in every game

For what it seems like now the entirety of the 2018 regular season, the Horns have thrived off of winning the turnover battle and the brilliant schematics of defensive coordinator Todd Orlando. Combine that with the improved efficiency of Ehlinger and you get a team that is winning on some of the most important parts of the stat line week in and week out.

Doing the little things well is important to becoming a team capable of contending in the national picture and that’s what head Texas football coach Tom Herman is building with this program now. Texas won the turnover battle against the Sooners by drawing three from them and staying perfect themselves.

So much credit needs to be given to this ultra-talented secondary for the Horns. That includes a senior cornerback in Kris Boyd that is making progress where he had a few weak points for the last two or three years. Add that along with the way that the pair of standout true freshman safeties, Caden Sterns and B.J. Foster are playing, and you get a ball-hawking group of defensive backs that should be scary for any opponent.

Even junior safety Brandon Jones came up with an interception of Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray that was a turning point early in the game. While that was the only pick that Murray threw, it was one of three turnovers that helped the Horns post 10-more points. This game-changing stat needs to continue for the success of this Texas football squad in 2018.
